Questions
Is a phone as accurate as a real light meter?
No. A phone's light sensor is not a calibrated meter. Readings are a useful guide for comparing spots in your home, not a measurement for professional or scientific work.
Which plants does it know?
A library of 388 houseplants, each with a sourced light range and care notes.
Does it need an account?
No. There is no account and no server.
Does it work with grow lights?
Yes. Readings work under any light, and the demo lets you compare a window spot with a lit one.
Is plant information advice?
Plant suggestions and care notes are general information. Check with a professional for your situation, and with a vet or Poison Control about pets and children.
Is Light Meter on iPhone?
Not yet. Light Meter is an Android app for now.
Try Light Meter in your browser
Browsers cannot read the light sensor, so the demo simulates readings for sample spots. Pick a spot, see the band and which plants fit, then try Plant first.
