WHO IT'S FOR
Plant Id for plant lovers: name it, then grow it
You stop at every plant you pass. A trailing vine in a cafe window, a striped leaf at a friend's place, something with purple undersides at the nursery. You want its name, and then you want to know how to keep one alive at home.
Plant Id names the plant from a photo, then gives you the care to go with it.
Why the real name matters
There are a lot of plants. Botanists recognize more than 340,000 species of vascular plants, and the count keeps changing as botanists describe new ones and merge old ones.
Common names overlap. "Pothos", "philodendron" and "devil's ivy" get swapped on store tags. "Snake plant" was moved from Sansevieria into Dracaena by botanists, so care guides use both names. A care answer for the wrong plant can be confidently wrong, so the first job is the name, ideally the botanical one.
Then the care follows. Once the name is right, light, water, soil and repotting advice can be specific instead of generic.
