WHO IT'S FOR

Layover Logic for flight attendants and crew

The pairing says 18 hours in Denver. It does not say 40 minutes on the hotel van, a late check-in, the sleep you need before a 5:15 am report, and leaving early for the van back. Out of 18 hours there might be three you can actually use. Most city guides assume you have the whole day and a car.

Layover Logic starts from your schedule and your sleep, and shows what is left.

Rest is the fixed part

The federal minimum went up in 2022. Since late 2022, federal rules require a flight attendant scheduled for a duty period of 14 hours or less to get at least 10 consecutive hours of rest, and removed the old allowance that let rest be cut to 8 or 9 hours. Ten hours is the floor; your contract may give you more.

Ten hours of rest is not ten hours of sleep. Rest includes getting to the hotel, eating and winding down. That is why Layover Logic lets you set your own sleep target and builds the window around it.

Layover Logic is a planning aid. It does not calculate legal rest and does not replace your airline's rules or federal limits.

How a layover gets planned

  1. Import your roster from a calendar file, a roster PDF, pasted text or a photo. It is read on your device.

  2. Layover Logic takes off transit, sleep and buffers from wheels-down to report and shows the real window.

  3. Slide your rest target and watch the window and the picks change.

  4. See only places that fit the window and the distance from your hotel, across 100 cities and 3,165 verified picks.

  5. Plan the whole trip in the schedule view, including the short overnights where the right answer is room service.

What the window looks like

  • Denver, in at 2:10 pm, report 5:15 am: 15 hours; about 3 hours in the evening

  • Chicago, in at 9:40 pm, report 11:00 am: 13 hours; about 1 hour for breakfast

  • Lisbon, in at 7:00 am, report next day 9:00 am: 26 hours; most of an afternoon after a nap

These are examples; your own settings change them.
